Monday 13th April is planned to be a meeting with a twist or more accurately a meeting in a time warp!!
Ninety years ago, when Toastmasters founder, Dr. Ralph C. Smedley held the first Toastmasters meeting in the basement of a YMCA in California, USA, the people who attended got dolled up in their finery and we are asking all club members to pay homage to this initial meeting on Monday night and dress in 1920s attire!
If you are in need of some inspiration, a quick google of 1920s fashion will soon have you bursting with ideas! I know there are some Baby Vamps (1920s slang for attractive girls) and Lalapazaza (1920s slang for good sports) amongst us! Obviously if you’re not togged to the bricks (ie dressed to the nines!), you won’t be streeted (tossed out of the party!) but it could well be considered off-time jive (ie. bad manners)!! 🙂
Congratulations again to Anthony and Justin who fought off tough competition to win the Area Final and will now be representing our Area (ie Killarney, West Limerick and Tralee) in the next stage of the speech and evaluation competitions respectively in Mallow on Sunday 19th April!
In case of any confusion – remember Monday’s meeting is upstairs in O’Donnell’s and will be starting at 8pm sharp as usual!
